We thought that you might be interested in learning something about the history of the taverna and the family.

Perikles and his family opened Kalami Tourist Services in 1986 as an information and exchange centre. Being the only office of its kind in the area, it served a need for tourists visiting the bay. Over the years the services it offers have been extended to include: day trips to and from Kassiopi and boat trips around Corfu. Quality accommodation owned by Perikles' family is offered in Kalami and the surrouding areas.

1^st day in Agni (Great Friday 6^th of April)
2^nd day in Agni (Great Saturday 7^th of April)
3^rd day in Agni (Easter Sunday 8^th of April)

We will spend the Easter day in Nikolas Taverna to experience the Traditional Greek Easter celebration.

Monday Morning (Easter Monday)
we are leaving for our trip to mainland.

Trip to Mainland

1^st day (Monday 9^th of April): Leaving from Corfu port at 7.30. We will visit the Acheron River, a place with great natural beauty. In ancient years people believed that the souls of the dead were traveling this river down by boat to reach their final destination in Hades (underworld).

Then we will visit the ruins of Nekromanteion one of the most famous oracles of Ancient Greek history. There the Greeks believed that were the gates of Hades and if they could speak with the dead they would be able to find the answers in many questions.

Stop for lunch. We will spend the night in one of Zagoria villages “Koukouli” where Perikles is building his new traditional guest houses.

2nd day (Tuesday 10^th of April): After breakfast we will visit Tzoumerka. Tzoumerka mountain range is located in central Pindos, between the rivers Arachthos and Aspropotamos. It’s a place of great natural beauty and there are many restaurants and grill – houses that serve traditional dishes of Epirus to the visitors. We are going to make a great tour into the near villages “Pramanta”, “Agnanta” and “Gefyria”. Back to “Koukouli” for the night.

3rd day (Wednesday 11^th of April): We will visit a few villages of Zagoria to admire the natural beauty and the traditional buildings and bridges. Also we will have the chance to admire many monuments such us the monastery of Molivdoskepasti. We once again will have the chance to taste the traditional food of Greek mainland.

4th day (Thursday 12^th of April): Returning to Corfu by visiting the town of Ioannina (capital of EPIRUS). In the historical city of Ioannina, which is also called ‘the city of legends and traditions’ you will be able to do some shopping or admire the great view of the Pamvotida Lake in the restaurants and the cafes near. Back to Corfu and one more night stay in Agni.

Perikles invites everybody who is really interesting to spend sometime in Agni during Greek Easter to celebrate with him and his family and then, join to the trip in Greek Mainland.

It’s necessary for everyone who is coming in Corfu for many years now, to explore and visit also the different life of the Greek people away from the tourist resorts, to have time to talk with the locals and enjoy the different traditional atmosphere.
