Perikles"It was in 1974 when we first walked down the path to TAVERNA NIKOLAS on the edge of the beautiful bay of AGNI in north east CORFU.
We were greeted by an ebullient young Greek who spoke excellent English. Information, food, drink and laughter appeared to be the order of the day. We had not been sitting there for long when other people arrived at the small jetty by boat. The boat was owned and captained by Nikolas, father of the young Greek who had welcomed us.
We stayed until the evening and the thought of the walk back along the cliff path to the hotel was, to say the leant, daunting. No sooner had we said this to PERICLIS when we were escorted to the boat and taken back to the hotel. That was, and still is, (20years later) the standard of service at TAVERNA NIKOLAS.
The young Greek of 1974 is a little heavier, rounder and now sports a wonderful moustache, but he is still the ebullient "Mine Host". PERICLIS is now married, his wife VOULA works in the TAVERNA kitchen and is the mother of three children ÕÉANNA, ALEXIÁ and NIKOLAS. Not much has changed over the years, the atmosphere and the welcome is still the same. However, PERICLIS has expanded his business interests over the years. First there were the apartments in the next bay, KALAMI, built by PERICLIS and his father, then a TRAVEL OFFICE in KALAMI organising holidays etc. from the U.K. Since then more apartments have been built by PERICLIS and his dad. The last addition is a new home for PERICLIS and his family built on the opposite end of the bay from the TAVERNA.

We hope to visit this wonderful TAVERNA and AGNI BAY many times in the future to enjoy the food, drink and wonderful atmosphere and, last but not least, the company of PERICLIS and his family."
